April 2107 - Dolphin Dive in with Stiltz

Check Out the Latest News from Dolphin Stairlifts North East

A mobility equipment specialist based in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne has become the latest company to graduate from the Stiltz Home Lift Training Academy.

Dolphin Lifts North-East was formed in 1988 and is an independent supplier of stairlift and mobility products in the North East.

Keen to expand the range of mobility products on offer to customers, the company chose to add the Stiltz home lift to their portfolio, stating the importance of learning the skills required to install it.

The Stiltz Home Lifts Training Academy allows selected partner companies to install Stiltz domestic lifts upon completion of a three-day course at the Stiltz headquarters in Kingswinford, West Midlands. Partners also need to undertake three on-site customer installations – overseen by Stiltz technicians – before becoming an Accredited Stiltz Lifts Installer Partner.

Dolphin Lifts North-East sent engineers to the Stiltz purpose-built training facility where they received classroom theory and hands-on practical installation training. The mobility equipment supplier completed its third and final installation in Northumberland in April.

Dolphin Lifts North-East Managing Director Bob Lines said: "We were very excited to partner up with Stiltz Lifts because the type of home lift they manufacture has never been available before. Stiltz has filled the gap in the market with their totally unique product.

"Because Dolphin Lifts North-East is now a fully accredited partner, it means our business is even more self-sufficient – we can sell the Stiltz lift and install it ourselves too. This enables us to offer a complete solution to customers in the North East, we can provide an alternative product to the stairlift which is easier to use and safer for the customer.

"Our engineers were very impressed with the training they received at the academy which they said was thorough and comprehensive. The Stiltz technology is simple and the lifts are straightforward to install because there are no hydraulics required. The lifts are also very easy to maintain for the end user.”

Gino Farruggio, Stiltz Lifts National Sales Manager – UK Trade, said: "We are delighted to welcome Dolphin Lifts North-East on board as an Accredited Stiltz Lifts Installer Partner and look forward to building a long and successful relationship with them.”

For more information about the Stiltz Home Lift Training Academy, contact the Stiltz Lifts Technical Team on 0330 222 0334. Courses are currently free of charge and limited to a maximum of eight attendees to ensure the highest level of training is provided.

NORTH EAST mobility specialist Shape Adaptations Limited has secured a prestigious new contract.

Shape Adaptations, which is based at Kingston Park's Independent Living Showroom (ILS), will now exclusively represent leading disability equipment supplier Osprey Healthcare across the North East as part of an ongoing deal worth £100k.

The sought-after contract win means Osprey customers will now benefit from the state-of-the-art ILS showroom, which will showcase Osprey products, and the Shape teams expert product knowledge and experience.

Bob Lines, owner of the Independent Living Showroom, said the news continues a successful year for the firm which has seen a sales increase of 46% and the creation of two new full-time jobs.

He added: “We are really proud to have been awarded the Osprey Healthcare contract. It's testament to our firm belief in our commitment to quality products and first class customer service and cements ILS’s and Shape's reputation as the region’s premier mobility specialists.

“Osprey is another welcome boost to our product range and will give our customers an even better choice of mobility solutions."

Osprey Healthcare is a leading supplier of all types of adult and paediatric disability equipment across the UK.

“We designed the showroom to allow visitors of all ages and disabilities to experience and test home adaptation products in a real-life setting.”

January 2014 - We're all going on a summer holiday

It's that time of year again. Cold, frosty mornings, short days and long, dark nights. And what better way to combat the winter blues than to give yourself a holiday to look forward to?

Well, that's we thought so we've booked ourselves a short break with Crathie Opportunity Holidays which promises beautiful scenery, great facilities and the peace of mind that we can ALL enjoy this break.

The cottages at Crathie, on Royal Deeside, are within the Cairngorm National Park and on the banks of the River Dee with views to the neighbouring Balmoral Estate and snow topped Lochnagar.

Derelict until 2002 the 200 year old granite buildings have been transformed into four expertly designed self-catering cottages with a range of facilities including hoists and wheeled shower chairs. There's also a fenced play area with a security gate.

So that's everything covered. The only thing we can't guarantee is the weather so fingers crossed...

16th September 2013 - The UK's first ever beach wheelchair race hosted by Dolphin Lifts and Mobility and Shape Adaptations is a winner...

The first ever UK beach wheelchair race, hosted by Dolphin Stairlifts and Shape Adaptations on Longsands Beach, Tynemouth, was a success. The event, which aimed to raise awareness of beach accessibility for wheelchair users went ahead unhitched, despite a demonstrator's wheelchair getting stuck in quicksand.

The 'Longsands Beach Challenge', was the first event in the UK of its kind and gave disabled people the chance to try all-terrain wheelchairs, giving some access to the beach for the first time in their lives.

The event was organised by the owner of Shape Adaptations, Stephen Smith and Bob Lines of Dolphin Lifts and Mobility with sponsorship from Irwin Mitchell. Inspired by his thrill seeking son James (16) who has duchenne muscular dystrophy, Stephen understands that beach access is difficult for those without an all-terrain wheelchair so decided to host the event to give people with disabilities a chance to experience the sand and sea and a great competition.

The Longsands Beach Challenge which took place on Saturday the 7th of September, encouraged participants to go head-to-head in all-terrain wheelchair races saw a great turn out with the public keen to give the powerchairs a try.

The event also gained some excellent coverage from both regional and national press including The Guardian, ITV and Sky Tyne and Wear, who were keen to help Dolphin Lifts and Mobility and Shape Adaptations raise awareness of beach accessibility.
